“Diversity 101” – We all know about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as they are now part of all our curricula, training programs and work but how much of the basic concepts do we really understand? Please join us for this session which will be led by Dr Sowbhagya Micheal, Western Sydney University and other members of the ANZAHPE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Subcommittee, as we develop our understandings in this critical area, so as to inform our practice as Health Professional Educators.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTER:

Sowbhagya has a background in microbiology, medical and psychiatric social work, public health, community development and medical education. Her work and research in India with people living with HIV/AIDS cemented her interests in community participation and public health, which became the focus of her doctoral thesis at the University of New South Wales. During her PhD studies at the University of New South Wales, Sowbhagya engaged in part-time individual and small group teaching, particularly in the Faculty of Medicine, which ignited an interest in medical education.
