Congratulations to Gisselle Gallego on her Associate Fellowship with ANZAHPE!

Gisselle is a senior lecturer at the School of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia and a Centre for Disability Research and Policy (CDRP), The University of Sydney affiliate. She is a clinician, health professional educator, disability researcher and advocate. Her research and teaching focuses on the experiences of culturally and linguistically diverse people and those living with disability, as well as the intersection of these. She has interest in inclusive education and the inclusion of disability content in health care education.

Gisselle’s research has a strong focus on accessibility and inclusion across the spectrum of health and higher education for people with disability. She uses arts‐based, mixed‐methods approaches and interdisciplinary perspectives to support multidimensional understandings of the lived experience, health outcomes and ways to improve wellbeing. She is part of the Disability Inclusive Health Professions Education Alliance ANZ (DIHPEA) a group of educators, researchers, clinicians, professional staff and leaders with diverse experiences and expertise in disability inclusion, education, scholarship and leadership that aim to support a more inclusive future for health professions education.

I applied for the Associate Fellowship because it allows me to be part of a thriving community with shared interests and an avenue to learn from other health educators. I hope to keep learning but also be able to support others.
