AIPPEN 2026 IPE Session 3: Speaking Up In Healthcare – designing an interprofessional speaking up capability framework

Communicating innovative ideas, suggesting changes to practice, identifying mistakes we have made, and even highlighting errors others have made, are all complex interprofessional communication acts. How prepared are the healthcare students you work with to communicate these messages? What more could be done to collaboratively create a healthy speaking up culture?

Philippa welcomes you to learn about key findings from her doctoral study on speaking up among allied health new graduates and to share speaking up activities you are engaged in. You are invited to join other AIPPEN and ANZAHPE members in co-creating a healthy speaking up curriculum.

About our Presenter:

Dr Philippa Friary is the Director of Clinical Education for the Masters in Speech Language Therapy Practice programme at The University of Auckland. Her education and healthcare leadership experience and international committee roles have taught her the importance of speaking up for the communities we work with, our teams, and ourselves to ensure safe, high-quality care.

We anticipate that you will leave with at least one new idea to explore, and widen your network of colleagues with interests in interprofessional education.
